The Associates for the Advancement of Poverty-Resistant Education is a results-oriented think tank that is composed of a core group of South Carolina school superintendents (who lead educational systems in predominantly rural South Carolina where the concentration of poverty is significantly high), interested community leaders, parents, civic-minded individuals, and educators. The mission (conceived out of President Barack Obama’s call for improvement in the public education system for all children) is to effectively educate children to levels that are comparable to high-achieving groups, regardless of ethnicity and economic status.
